Entering the New Year with Greener and More Sustainable Habits

Entering the New Year with Greener and More Sustainable Habits

Hello, beautiful people!

The team at LaPhase hopes you had a restful holiday season and are ready to embrace the new year with joy, peace, and love. As 2025 begins, many of us are reflecting on our goals and resolutions. Today, we’d like to share some simple yet impactful sustainable habits and lifestyle changes to help you start the year by caring for both yourself and the planet. Remember, perfection isn’t the goal, progress is. Every step counts, and we’re all in this together!

  1. Reduce Packaging Waste, Especially Plastic

Did you know that the personal care and beauty industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging annually, most of which is non-recyclable? Alarmingly, only about 9% of all plastic ever produced has been properly recycled. This environmental challenge shows no signs of slowing down, but we can make a difference!

Small changes in our daily choices can create a ripple effect. Here are some ideas:

  • Switch to bar dish soaps and shampoos.

  • Shop at zero-waste stores and reuse bottles, bags, and jars.

  • Choose products with sustainable packaging, like glass, paperboard, or cork.

At LaPhase, our mission is to prioritize plastic-free packaging and products with concentrated ingredients, better for you and the planet! We are dedicated to creating sustainable packaging that is not detrimental to the environment.

  1. Educate Yourself

Sustainability is more than just a buzzword. Take time to dive deeper and understand the "why" and "how." Read books, listen to podcasts, and explore resources from trusted experts to expand your knowledge. Let new ideas inspire you and guide you toward sustainable practices that fit your lifestyle. The journey starts with awareness! Some of our personal faves for books and media accounts include Drawdown by Paul Hawken, Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, earthrise studio, and intersectional environmentalist.

  1. Be Mindful of Meat Consumption (and Support Cruelty-Free Beauty)

You don’t have to be vegan or vegetarian to make a difference. Small changes, like participating in Meatless Mondays or trying Veganuary, can help reduce your carbon footprint. (Fun fact: Cutting out meat just one day a week could save the carbon equivalent of driving 348 miles per year!)

Exploring plant-based recipes or dining at local vegan restaurants can be a fun and sustainable way to experiment while supporting small businesses.

Similarly, we stand firmly behind supporting vegan beauty brands and cruelty-free products. It’s possible to create clean, effective, and gentle products without harming animals—because protecting their well-being is essential to protecting the planet.

  1. Connect, Share, and Take Action

Community action is powerful! Whether it’s:

  • Expressing concerns to local legislators about harmful product ingredients,

  • Asking brands tough questions or holding them accountable, or

  • Having meaningful conversations with friends and family about sustainability,

Every voice counts. Sharing ideas and working together amplifies impact. Consider joining or supporting organizations and groups that align with your values.

Let’s make 2025 a year of progress, one conscious choice at a time. Thank you for being part of the LaPhase community and for committing to a greener, more sustainable world. 💚

With love and gratitude,

The LaPhase Team
